Tom Diana has practiced law for the last 20 years, and he is looking forward to many more. Given his background in engineering, Tom's main practice areas focus on disputes involving property damage and all matters related to construction. Most recently, Tom was recognized by his peers as the 2025 “Lawyer of the Year” for Construction Litigation in St. Petersburg, Florida by 2025 Best Lawyers®.
Prior to starting his law firm, Tom served as an Executive Vice President for a Florida domestic property insurer where he played a principal role in successfully implementing strategies for handling high-value insurance claims and developing legal initiatives, and negotiating reinsurance portfolios related to large losses and litigated claims. Following that, Tom has litigated in civil courts throughout Florida and continued to work as a consultant to insurers to implement strategic protocols dealing with coverage and claims under property, builders risk, and professional and general liability policies.
Tom has also taught at many continuing education seminars for industry professionals and attorneys, he has participated in legislative panels on insurance matters, and authored presentations relating to insurance claims handling, litigation strategy, financial audits and loss mitigation plans, and case law/legislative updates. In August 2012, Tom was one of two attorneys in Florida selected by the Florida Conference of Circuit Court Judges to instruct at their annual meeting in Marco Island. Throughout his career in Florida, Tom has assisted insurance companies in developing strategies to identify abnormalities in loss ratios and to correct those anomalies within the framework of Florida law.
At Zinober, Diana & Monteverde, P.A., Tom has litigated a large number of civil disputes, and has continued to dedicate time as a consultant to several insurance carriers to develop forms that comply with the Florida Insurance Code and specify the coverage offered to consumers.
